The Preparatory (Prep) year is the first year of school for your child. It provides the foundation for a child’s success at school.
An important aim of the Preparatory Year is to build on your child’s previous experiences with new and different learning opportunities at school.
To support students make the transition into Prep, Port Curtis Road State School is offering a Step into Prep program, which is funded through Playmatters (Playgroup Queensland). Students who are eligible for Prep in 2025, and who attend a minimum of eight Step into Prep sessions between July and December, will receive a Prep Starter pack.
We welcome new families to join our playgroup and to participate in our Step into Prep program. Please contact the school for more information.

Prep Starter Pack
Future Prep Students who enrol at Port Curtis Road State School and who attend a minimum of 8 weeks of Step into Prep between July and December, will be eligible for a Prep Starter pack:
