Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) is a multi-tiered system of support for discipline within schools. At Port Curtis Road State School, this whole-school approach is used in all classrooms and programs offered throughout the school, including in the playground, sporting activities and excursions.

PBL is an evidence-based framework used to:

· analyse and improve student behaviour and learning outcomes;

· ensure that only evidence-based practices are used correctly by teachers to support students and by

· continually supporting staff members to maintain consistent school and classroom improvement practices.

At Port Curtis Road State School, we believe that student behaviour is a part of the overall teaching and learning approach in our school. We have four over-arching school wide expectations, these include, we are safe, we are responsible, we are respectful and we are learners. Our staff take responsibility for making their expectations clear, for providing supportive instruction about how to meet these expectations and use behavioural incidents as opportunities to re-teach.
